The UIPM and the Australian Olympic Committee have confirmed the qualification of Angie Darby and Alex Paragyin as having qualified to compete at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. MPA congradulates to both Angie and Alex.

Angie Darby and Isis Dalton finished 9th and 15th respectively in the International World Ranking Womens' competition in Spiez, Switzerland held on 16 May 2008.

Congradulations to Dee Whithead who finished 2nd in the Youth A Championship in Sweden. (see report at www.barometern.se ).

Cornel Venna has expressed his intention to establish a Modern Pentathlon Club in Townsville, Queenland. Cornel currently coducts a fencing club in Townsville and has athletes looking to try MP.

Cornel competed as an athlete for Romania in the 1956 Olympic Games.His 1956 Modern Pentathlon fencing win,(29 Vic.and 1111 pts) remains an Olympic record.

He latter competed for Australia in World Cup and World Championship events in the 1960's and 70's.
