Victorian Neville Sayers has been voted as a Life Member of Modern Pentathlon Australia. Neville’s association with the sport dates back to the 1950s, when he was a founding member and competitor of the Association.
Neville is one of an elite group of athletes worldwide who has been selected to represent his country in two sports at the same Olympic Games - Neville competed in both Modern Pentathlon and Shooting at the 1964 Tokyo Games. He was a member of Australia’s Olympic team, as either a competitor or an official, from 1956 until 1976.
After retiring from competition, Neville commenced a long and productive administrative career. He has held every position at both state and national levels of the sport in Australia, as well as being the inaugural UIPM Regional Vice President, and a member of the UIPM Technical Committee.
Neville's contribution to the sport of Modern Pentathlon was visionary and untiring. He is a very worthy addition to the MPA ranks of Life Members.
